The actor,
68, is currently backtracking on claims his cancer was caused by oral
sex. The Guardian stands by its story and denies it 'misrepresented' the
actor.
The
transcript reads the reporter asking: 'Do you feel, in hindsight, that
you overloaded your system? Overloaded your system with drugs, smoking,
drink?'
Michael
then replied: 'No. No. Ah, without getting too specific, this particular
cancer is caused by something called HPV, which actually comes about
from cunnilingus.'
Douglas
fought a six-month battle with the disease from August 2010 until
January 2011. Doctors have given Douglas the all-clear, although he
still has to undergo check-ups every six months.However, the actor is
optimistic he has conquered the disease once and for all. 'With this
kind of cancer, 95 percent of the time it doesn't come back,' he said.
