22-year old Kelechi Ojobo and 21-year-oldFaith Chinweife were on
Wednesday remanded by an Upper Area Court, sittingin Gwagwalada, Abuja
for allegedly bitingoff a man’s ear.
The two persons involved are a boy(Kelechi) and a girl(Faith) who
work assales boy and girl respectively at Channel5 Beer Parlour, Kuje
Road, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
They were arraigned on a two-count charge of joint act and causing grievous hurt.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Modupe Musa, told the court that the
duo teamed to beat up one Dennis Manger, their customer who lives in
the same area, on April 8.
Musa said during the fight, Faith choppedoff the complainant’s right ear, thereby inflicting deep wound on the said ear.
The prosecutor said Manger could no longer hear well with the ear.
The prosecutor prayed the court for an adjournment to enable her to call
witnesses. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Their counsel, Mr Edo Okayan, urged the court to grant them bail.
Okayan said there was no medical proof indicating that the complainant
has completely lost his hearing through the said ear as claimed.
The presiding judge, Mr Babanginda Hassan, adjourned the case to June
5 for hearing and ordered the accused to be remanded in prison.
